The children are the most helpless and vulnerable individuals in any society around the world. They need to be given a home, cared for, nurtured, and loved. It was under this premise that Casa Cittadini came to be.
The construction of the Home was made possible through the generosity of the friends and benefactors of the Ursuline Sisters of Somasca, both in the Philippines and abroad. Sr. Vera Ravasio, the Superior Delegate of the Ursuline Sisters in the Philippines delegated the responsibility of running the Home for Girls to the Catherina Cittadini Community in Dumaguete City.
When Casa Cittadini was ready to take in orphaned, abandoned, and neglected girls, the Ursuline Sisters turned to the parents of some students in Catherina Cittadini (St. Louis) School for their support. These were the very same parents who have always demonstrated their willingness to support all of the school’s educative endeavours.
And they did not turn the Sisters down. These parents pledged their support to Casa Cittadini and joined the Ursuline Sisters in their noble task of caring for the girls. Thus, the Casa Cittadini Foundation, Inc. was formed with its core group now comprising the members of the Board of Trustees, the governing body of the Foundation.
The Foundation, under the leadership of Sr. Celina Joseph as President and Superior/Directress of Casa Cittadini, is responsible for the effective management of and the realization of its Mission and Vision as well as extending financial support and finding donors and benefactors for the institution.
